Eden Private Hospital welcomes new CEO/DCS, Ashley Baker

Ashley is trained as a Registered Nurse with experience in clinical and management areas of both Mental Health Services and General Nursing Services. He has a keen interest in leading services and looking at new ways in which the health systems can operate. Ashley holds extensive experience in developing new models of care and working with key stakeholders to ensure the smooth transition of the implementation of these models.

Previously, he has worked within WSLHD for 20 years in a number of various roles from clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse consultant, Nurse Unit Manager, Executive Support Officer and Operational nurse manager. During this time he was the lead and managed a number of services through planned and operational change within the redevelopment setting. He has had additional experience in the Mental Health environment and also having overall operations experience of a tertiary facility - Westmead Hospital. Ashley was provided with the opportunity to utilise his skills in the private sector of health working within SJOG Healthcare as the Director of Nursing and Patient Experience at Richmond Hospital. He reports this as being an amazing opportunity which enabled him to look at expanding and building the service to support local consumers and beyond.

Now working as the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Clinical Services for Eden Private Hospital, Aurora Healthcare on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Ashley is looking forward to building on the reputable service offerings established by Eden Private Hospital in both areas of Rehabilitation and Mental Health. “I am eager to utilise my experience and knowledge of the health care system to lead change and redevelopment in this industry to provide better outcomes for patients and consumers,” says Ashley.

As hospital CEO/DCS at Eden Private Hospital, Ashley is responsible for doctor engagement, managing day-to-day operations and overseeing clinical governance, while leading strategic initiatives for continued growth and quality patient care.

When not at work, he likes to spend time with family and friends. Ashley aims to make significant changes in our health system to improve the functionality of the hospitals that provide care for the community. He hopes in the future there will be change within the healthcare system that will see better outcomes for the consumers and staff of the service.
